The extraordinary beauty and diversity of the area is stunning. It is even more enriched now with wineries, restaurants and galleries, earning a reputation as a destination of choice for the city escapist.
The Taman Sari Experience - Mapleton Stayze
Each of our two private pavilions is designed as a self-contained sanctuary, no other guests wandering past your door, just you, your partner, and the sound of the surrounding forest. Inside, you'll find a private spa bath, a Nespresso coffee machine, a kitchenette stocked with breakfast provisions, and glass panes framing uninterrupted views over the Obi Obi Valley. Step outside to your own private garden, shaded by towering bamboo and tropical planting.
Taman Sari is an adults-only retreat, and genuinely pet-friendly too (a small cleaning fee applies). Air conditioning, free WiFi and free parking are included as standard, and check-in from 2pm / check-out by 10am gives you a full day to settle in and unwind. For an extra touch of indulgence, in-pavilion massage treatments a single or couples' massage can be booked in advance, subject to therapist availability.
Explore the Sunshine Coast Hinterland
Taman Sari sits on Obi Obi Road, Mapleton a quieter, less-crowded corner of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, tucked just up the range from the better-known villages of Montville and Maleny. Mapleton itself is a small town built around a pond of lily pads, but its real drawcard is what surrounds it: Mapleton Falls National Park, where a short, wheelchair-accessible walk leads to a lookout over a 120-metre drop, and Kondalilla National Park's 4.7-kilometre falls circuit through rainforest and swimming holes. Walkers can also follow the Wompoo Circuit through Mapleton National Park, or the longer Gheerulla Full Loop Hike past Gheerulla Falls.
For wine, cellar-door lunches and boutique shopping, Montville village with its galleries, cafés and Flame Hill Vineyard is around 15 minutes' drive, while Maleny, with its cheese factory and Sunday markets, is a further 15 minutes beyond that. Head the other way and you're down on the coast at Maroochydore's beaches in about 35 minutes, or in Brisbane in around 1.5 hours close enough for a weekend escape, far enough to properly switch off.
